Doczaar is the simplest way to find the lecture notes, exam guides, and study briefs that other students wrote, used, and passed with — and to get paid for the ones you write yourself.
What we do
Doczaar is a marketplace for student-written study materials — lecture notes, exam guides, condensed summaries, problem sets, and revision flashcards. Students upload what they wrote; other students search, preview, and buy what they need. Sellers keep up to 80% of every sale, paid daily via Stripe.
We don't generate content. We don't grade anyone. We give the notes a shelf, a price tag, and an honest review system, and then we get out of the way.
Why we built it
Every semester, somewhere on every campus, the same two things are true: a few students take exceptional notes, and a few hundred students go looking for them at 11pm the night before a final. The existing fixes — group chats, Discords, pirated PDFs in shared Drives — are unreliable, untracked, and don't pay the people doing the work.
We thought a small, focused marketplace could do better. Pay the authors. Show real previews. Let the community filter for quality. Stay out of the academic process itself.
What we believe
- i.Students should be paid for the work they've already done. Sharing is generous; selling is sustainable.
- ii.Previews aren't optional. You should be able to see what you're buying before you buy it.
- iii.The community knows which notes are worth it. The platform shouldn't pretend it does.
- iv.Subscriptions are a tax on people who don't need them. Pay per-document, full stop.
- v.Academic integrity belongs to your institution, not us. We provide study aids — what you do with them is your responsibility.
How sellers earn
Open a seller account, connect Stripe in about three minutes, upload a PDF, and set a price. From there it runs by itself — buyers download, Stripe takes its cut, you keep up to 80% of what's left, and we settle to your bank account daily. No minimum-payout threshold dance, no months-long holds.
Commission rates start at 70% for new sellers and rise to 80% as your sales volume grows. The full schedule lives in your earnings dashboard once you're set up.
How we keep quality up
Three mechanisms, in order of strength: previews (you see the first pages of every document before buying), buyer reviews (any buyer can rate and write a review after download), and our moderation queue (we remove anything that breaks the rules — see our Terms).
We don't pre-screen documents. We respond to copyright takedowns fast, and repeat infringers lose their accounts.
